Healthy, top-quality school meals
Getting into good eating habits and making mealtimes enjoyable for everyone are what we aim for every day. Our dining-room is much more than a school canteen – it is where we meet up with friends and share experiences while promoting healthy eating at school. Students have a wide range of food options prepared by a staff of five, working under head chef Alexandre Etienne.
Nutrition and enjoyment
Over 1,400 meals are prepared every day in our kitchen to the highest standards. Menus are planned with a dietician to ensure they are nutritionally balanced and comply with the ‘Fourchette Verte’ healthy eating label. We know it’s possible to give children healthy food made with fresh ingredients that they’ll love – we do it every day!
A standard menu consists of:
Protein-rich foods
A choice of meat, chicken, fish, shellfish, eggs, tofu, cheese, beans and pulses. Fish is offered twice a week.
Vegetables or fruit
A choice of salad, cooked vegetables, raw or cooked fruit and soup.
Starchy food
A choice of potatoes, pasta, rice, corn, couscous, lentils, chick peas, other cereals and bread, preferably wholegrain.
Dessert
Usually raw or cooked fruit or a dairy-based dessert.
Drink
Water is freely available.
Novae and Florimont
Novae and Florimont favour produce that is fresh, seasonal, organic, locally sourced and eco-labelled.
Food traceability is very important to us. Most products are locally sourced (Genève Région Terre Avenir label), from Switzerland or the EU (e.g. marine fish). The cleaning products used in school are EU eco-label approved.
Special dietary requirements
We cannot cater for special dietary requirements or guarantee that food prepared on site is free of allergens. Children with special dietary requirements are asked to bring in their own food which can be reheated if necessary in our kitchen.
