It is with great pleasure and immense pride that we celebrate the official accreditation of Florimont’s final years of the French Baccalaureate programme by the French Ministry of Education and the Agence pour l’enseignement français à l’étranger (AEFE).
This recognition, granted alongside the nine other schools belonging to the Groupement des écoles suisses qui préparent au Baccalauréat français (GESBF), guarantees our pupils and their families an educational pathway that meets the requirements of French education abroad. It also enables our pupils to continue sitting the Baccalaureate as school candidates and, from 2028 onwards, to sit their examinations in Geneva.
It also supports mobility within the French education network abroad and across France, as Florimont now joins a network of 640 schools and more than 400,000 pupils in 140 countries. This worldwide network provides a shared educational framework while celebrating the diversity of the cultures and communities in which its schools are located.
This accreditation is rooted in more than 120 years of history. The Baccalaureate, one of the school’s longstanding qualifications, has been offered at Florimont since 1905, when the first cohort consisted of just eight pupils. Today, more than 50 pupils sit the examinations each year, with a 100% pass rate for the past 15 years and at least 80% achieving honours each year, including the highest distinction awarded by the examination board.
This international dimension goes hand in hand with strong local roots. For many years, Florimont has maintained close ties with the French community in the Lake Geneva region and contributes to its vitality through a range of events and partnerships, notably with the Consulate General of France in Geneva, the Union des Français de l’étranger in Geneva, the SMLH Section Suisse and CCI France Suisse (CCIFS).
This accreditation therefore marks a new chapter for the Baccalaureate at Florimont and for the pupils who are currently preparing for it. We would like to extend our particular thanks to Mrs Marion Paradas, Ambassador of France to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, for her support throughout this process, as well as to the Agence pour l’enseignement français à l’étranger (AEFE) for this recognition, which formally acknowledges the work accomplished over many years.
