Founded in 1905 by the Congregation of the Missionaries of Saint Francis de Sales, Institut Florimont has evolved over time while remaining faithful to its founding values of excellence and solidarity.

Throughout these 120 years, we have continuously adapted both our curriculum and our facilities to deliver an education of excellence in step with a changing world. From the construction of the Florimont stadium in 1963 to the opening of the kindergarten in 2013, from the creation of the International Baccalaureate section in 2014 to the launch of our cultural season in 2022, from the establishment of our Arts & Sports programme that same year to the launch of our Innovation Hub in 2024—Florimont is committed to our constant improvement in the service of an unchanging mission

A mission unchanged for 120 Years

Institut Florimont has pursued the same mission since its beginnings: to forge free, exacting, and passionate minds. Academic and human education go hand in hand, shaping our students into engaged citizens with sharp critical thinking and a readiness to contribute to society.

Innovation at the core

“Our educational approach is straightforward: to innovate while preserving the fundamentals. For 120 years we have striven to be a school attentive to the needs of society.”

— Sean Power, Director General of Institut Florimont

Among our recent initiatives is the Arts/Sports programme, designed for students pursuing high-level artistic or athletic activities, with specially adapted timetables.

More recently, we launched an Innovation, Research, and Development Hub — a laboratory of ideas and a training hub serving our educational purpose. Its focus includes the personalization of learning pathways, multilingualism, the integration of Artificial Intelligence, and raising awareness among teachers and students about safe and effective practices in this field.

In 2025, we also introduced a new dual-degree programme: the Academica Dual Diploma, combining the French Baccalaureate with the American High School Diploma, thereby broadening the international opportunities available to our students.

Strong community engagement and a spirit of solidarity

As a school deeply rooted in its city, Florimont encourages its students to serve their community and to develop their human skills through a range of charitable activities. By inviting students to give their best, we help them unlock their potential and discover what drives them.

Solidarity is expressed daily through concrete actions. In recent years, students, staff, and the parents’ association (APEF) have joined forces to support a common cause: Partage, a key player in Geneva’s food aid network.

Exceptional partners

At Florimont, we believe in teamwork and the strength of collective endeavour. That is why we surround ourselves with outstanding partners across many fields—local actors who are fully part of our community and with whom we cultivate long-term relationships.

Whether through our Arts & Sports programme (with partners such as Servette Hockey Club, Hôpital de la Tour, and the Haute École de Musique), our cultural season (in collaboration with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, MAMCO, Musée Ariana…), or our partnerships with the Société de Lecture, the University of Geneva, or the Gonet Geneva Open, our students benefit from the very best support to push their limits and explore new disciplines.

Florimont: a school built to last

Our drive to do better is what motivates us. In this spirit of continuous improvement, we launched in 2010 a programme to renovate and modernise our campus, with the aim of creating a more sustainable living and learning environment. With more than 1,600 m² of solar panels, recycling stations across campus, and extensive green landscaping, the school was awarded the Eco-School label in 2018, a recognition of years of effort by our dedicated teams.

Sustainability will remain central to our projects in the years ahead. This vision is shared with our community, present and strong since our earliest days. Together, we will continue to imagine tomorrow—for the next 120 years.
