Junior Section (Primaire)

One mission of the Junior School is to help students acquire knowledge and independence which will assist them throughout life and help them to recognize their own abilities and achieve academic excellence.

Whilst maintaining the fundamental basic notions of the Institut, the new teaching methods used in our school aim to build on academic excellence.

From Florimont’s Year 11 (Year 1 in the UK) to Year 7 (UK Year 5), pupils learn to speak, listen, read and write.

In Math there are four basic goals –decimals, geometry, problem solving, development of reasoning and abstract thought.

Many other school disciplines contribute to broadening the sound general knowledge given to all the children: history, geography, natural sciences, philosophy, musical education, and artistic activities. Physical education lessons and extra-curricular activities are organised at lunchtimes (judo, fencing, football, handball, floor-ball, basketball, climbing, drama, choir, piano, flute, violin, guitar, chess, and a variety of workshops), offering children balance and personal fulfilment.

All the classes in the Junior Section from Year 10 (UK Year2) have four periods of English every week. Special English lessons are available for native speakers.

From Florimont Year 9 to Year 7 (UK Years 3 to 5), students are introduced to German lessons for 2 hours every week. Computer classes start in Year 8 (UK Year 4).

For Catholic pupils (or anybody who so wishes), religious classes and mass are available to prepare for the sacraments (Baptism and First Communion).
